If you are starting, expanding, relocating, or own a small business here in La Grange, the La Grange Economic Development Corporation can help. We have created many small business assistance programs to provide grants and aid to local businesses that have a capital investment of under $1 million. These programs can assist with property improvements, marketing, employee training, technology, and general financial aid. The following types of incentives and assistance could be made available to businesses that do not qualify for the Medium to Large Companies Incentive Guidelines Policy. The following incentives and assistance would not be available to companies that receive incentives under the Medium to Large Companies Incentive Guidelines Policy.
Small Business Assistance is be targeted towards three categories: Service, Retail, and Professional. For example, service businesses would include electricians, contractors, along with heating and air conditioning repair. Retails businesses would include card shops, general stores, coffee shops, clothing stores, and any establishments where you purchase items. The Professional category refers to accountants, attorneys, bankers, dentists, and doctors. These examples are not all inclusive. For these three types of businesses, assistance in education, marketing, technology are the three areas that will provide the greatest return to the businesses. Service businesses will benefit most from educational classes that address issues like insurance, payroll, personnel, taxes, computer software, filing taxes electronically, etc. Service businesses will also benefit from technology assistance like grants for computers, software, and printers. Assistance in these two areas will provide the tools to a service business that they need to expand, produce a professional image, and extend the life of their business. Retail businesses will benefit most from marketing assistance and educational classes. The same types of educational classes as listed above would apply. Professional businesses will benefit for both marketing and technology assistance as well as the educational classes. Types of assistance that the La Grange EDC should provide working in conjunction with the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce and the City Economic Development Office.
